The Shepherd’s Hand is a non-profit 501 C 3, faith-based resource for people in Montrose, Colorado that are dealing with the challenges of food and housing insecurity.
The vison of The Shepherd’s Hand is Providing hope for a brighter tomorrow. The Shepherd’s Hand Inc mission is to provide compassionate and thoughtful emergent and transitional physical, mental, and spiritual support for people experiencing food and housing insecurity.

Job Summary:
The Executive Director will be responsible for the overall strategic, operational, and financial leadership of The Shepherd's Hand Inc. They will work closely with the Board of Directors, the Development Director, Operations Manager, and Outreach Manager to fulfill the organization's mission and ensure sustainable growth. This role requires strong leadership, management, and communication skills to overseeing a team and a five-year strategic plan.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Leadership & Strategy:
- Develop and implement the strategic vision and direction for the organization, in alignment with the Board’s objectives.
- Lead the organization in a manner that supports and guides its mission.
- Serve as a key spokesperson for the organization, advocating for its mission in the community.
- Keep the Board of Directors informed on the organization's operational, financial, and programmatic performance.
2. Operations Management:
- Alongside the Operations Manager the Executive Director will oversee the daily operations, ensuring the organization meets its goals and objectives efficiently and effectively.
- Implement policies and procedures to ensure smooth organizational functioning.
- Oversee program outcomes, monitoring effectiveness, and ensuring they meet the needs of the target populations.
3. Financial Management:
- Develop and manage the organization's budget in collaboration with the finance team and Board of Directors.
- Ensure financial stability and sustainability through sound fiscal management, including maintaining accurate financial records, controls, and reporting.
- Alongside the Development Director the Executive Director will Identify and secure diverse funding sources, including grants, donations, and partnerships.
4. Human Resources & Team Management:
- Lead, inspire, and manage staff and volunteers to ensure a collaborative and high-performing team.
- Ensure effective recruitment, onboarding, training, and development of staff and volunteers.
- Promote a positive and inclusive work environment that reflects the organization's values and mission.
5. Community Engagement & Advocacy:
- Alongside the Development Director and the Community Outreach Manager the Executive Director will maintain strong relationships with community partners, government officials, and stakeholders.
- Represent the organization at local and regional events, strengthening its presence and partnerships in the community.
- Advocate for the needs of the populations served by The Shepherd's Hand Inc.
6. Board Relations:
- Serve as the primary liaison between the Board of Directors and staff.
- Provide regular updates and reports to the Board, including operational and financial reports.
- Assist in the recruitment and development of Board members to ensure strong governance and oversight.
Qualifications:
- Experience in executive leadership roles, preferably within the non-profit sector.
- Demonstrated experience in fundraising, financial management, and strategic planning.
- Knowledge of social services, healthcare, education, law enforcement, and working with individuals who are experiencing housing instabilities and the ability to navigate the non-profit sector.
- Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with staff, board members, volunteers, and community stakeholders.
- Demonstrated passion for the organization's mission and a track record of servant leadership.
Special Requirements:
- Must possess a valid driver’s license
- All staff must undergo a background check
- Must be able to maintain confidentiality of information
Physical Demands:
- Must be able to lift 20 lbs.
- Walk up and down stairs
- Sit for 2 hours at a time
Compensation:
Salary Range will be negotiated with the Board of Directors
